SBR Technologies, Inc.’s recommendation leads to the implementation of four Sequencing Batch Reactors to treat effluents for a leader in the Pulp and Paper Mill industry

Challenge

SBR Technologies, Inc. (SBRT) was instrumental in helping a leading civil engineering firm win a multimillion dollar contract for the construction of four, 12 MGD Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) systems to treat pulp and paper mill effluents at several mills in Canada. Prior to SBRT’s involvement, the engineering firm had conducted a series of pilot scale tests to demonstrate the feasibility of using the SBR to treat their client’s pulp and paper mill effluents. At the same time, the potential client had been conducting their own tests using a more conventional activated sludge system offered by one of the main competitors. Despite the lower bid, the client remained hesitant to select the SBR over the conventional and more familiar activated sludge system.

SBR Technologies Solution

SBRT was hired to review the engineering firm’s pilot SBR data and full-scale design and ultimately, through a series of meetings and consultations, convince the client of the many advantages of the SBR over the system offered by the competitor.

Benefits Achieved

Ultimately, the engineering firm was awarded the contract as a direct result of SBRT’s involvement in the project. At the client’s request, SBRT was retained to provide technical support and assistance on the project.
